Our Thanks To ‘Web Savant’ Colleen Brathwaite

The Chapter extends great thanks to Board Member Colleen Brathwaite for leading and guiding the complete rebuilding of its website during the last quarter of 2009.  The goal of this ambitious project was to refresh the site, and at the same time, provide a platform that would enable the chapter to:

  • Manage and enable self-administered updates to communicate more frequently with chapter members and prospects
  • Use it to generate revenue by running ads and listings in the agency and resource directories
  • Cut costs by eliminating the need for paid web maintenance
  • Have a flexible platform that could be enhanced over time. 
Colleen achieved these goals and more, as we can see by touring the new site, which went live on January 4, 2010.  She researched and evaluated several products from different web design companies and, based on a comparative analysis, recommended Star Chapter, which had begun to build a number of websites for PRSA chapters.  The price was reasonable and the speed of site development was great, since Star Chapter was able to take what was on the old site and move it to their platform.  The finished site features all the capabilities the Chapter wanted, the platform is easy to use and the site was built in less than two months.  Great job, Colleen!

PR News features two chapter members on 'Getting Heard by Management'
Long-time Chapter member Jim Lukaszewski, who heads a communications consultancy in White Plains and communications consultant and writer Ken Koprowski, our Chapter's co-chair for programs, are quoted in "Getting Heard: Earning the Role of Trusted Strategic Advisor,"  the lead article in the January 4, 2010 issue of PR News.  Jim will share his tips and insights into the topic at the Chapter's  March 10 luncheon meeting (click here to register online).  The subject also is the focus of of Jim Lukaszewski's recent book, "Why should the Boss Listen to You?"
